Macedonia became a member of this most efficient humanitarian organization June
20, 1997, with establishing of the first Lions Club - Skopje which was awarded and become a member in the Lions world clubs. The record for the membership in Skopje was given by Lion Rainhard from Austria within presence of the members of the Lions Club Tivoli from Slovenia Marter, Bregr i Belic.

Club Skopje was established by 24 members. In 1998 the first Leo Club in Macedonia was organized with 28 members.

Since the first Lions Club - Skopje in Macedonia has been established eight new Lions Clubs and one Leo more.
The number of members is around 300.

During this time the work of the Club Lions - Skopje in accordance with the
Constitution and the codex the Lions Clubs taking care for the protection of the children and old people, as well as for the ill. Meantime, has been working on developing of the sience, education, ecology etc.

Main purpose of the Club was to organise humanitarian accions and projects as fightiong against drogs, aids, diabet and blodness.
The projects have been realized through voluntaree actions and aucctions, concerts, and other kind of acctivities and cultural events.

With moto “We serve” Club Skopje organized three round tables for the diabetis and fighting against drags and several humanitarian actions; it was collected 100.000 euro for Kosovo crisis, several auctions of fameous painters in which were colected 60.000 euro, concerts organized and performed by Lion members – 25.000 euro.

To the Cardilogy Clinic in Skopje, Lions Club - Skopje donnered holter worth 50.000 euro and to the Clinic of Children ill of carcinom; various equipments, blankets, toys, books and willchairs, in total around 20.000 euro. Several hospitals in Skopje, Ohrid and Bitola were donated by peintings.

When Iran was hit by earthquicke Lions Club -Skopje gave 40.000 Euro in
equipement and food and many other acctivities took place.

During its work Lions Club Skopje organised different talks about the current political and economic situation in Macedonia, region and world by participing of various ambassadors and experts from the European Union, USA, Russia, United Kingdom, Slovenia.

Lions Club - Skopje established Lions Club -Vardar which is very acctiv as well as the new Leo Club through which eitght Leo members went to the Lion campus in Germany, Holalnd, Slovenia and Japon.

Developing its work Club Lions- Skopje during December last year has been supporting so called special Olimpiada for hendikep children during Christmas time. This action was not supported financiely by the LCEF.
To those children Lion Club - Skopje gave several computers and is in a process of preparing a project for special Olipiada for the hendikep children and for which we are expecting support by the LCEF.

At the same time we plan in 2007 to organise youth campus in Ohrid, main cultural and turistic center in Macedonia and to continue with financial supporting of young students as we have done last years for some talnents in the field of culture, clasical music.
